A school is a place children get to learn so they could be more relevant in society. Sometimes it is a fun place, and sometimes it could be a place of torment, especially when you get to face bullies and suffer reduced self-esteem because of the things happening around you.
One of these boys is Jackson, a gentle boy with no friends at school. His classmates often laugh at him because he is not brilliant, like everyone in the classroom. Whenever the teacher wants to ask a question, he tries to escape. Because of the things happening to Jackson, he is always reserved. He doesn’t talk much to people.
One day, Jackson was being bullied by some other children when one of the most popular kids in school with tops records noticed him and decided to teach him all the things he needs to know to be good in class and gain some popularity.
“Stop it immediately,” Sheen turned resolutely to the bullies.
Shane was no bigger or stronger than Jackson. But he was endowed with self-confidence that made the bullies disappear as they recognized his determination to fight them.
“I am Sheen,” Sheen Introduced himself and continued.
“you will be fine. People will be surprised when they find out you are a great guy. Let me guide you.” Jackson was surprised by the boy’s action. But he was happy and immediately agreed.
Sheen helped him with a few extra difficult assignments and taught him so many things. They read together all the time and play together too.
Teachers where surprised Jackson was beginning to score higher than lots of people in the class, and it’s looking like he would become one of the best very soon. Despite all these things happening, Jackson was still careful not to raise his hands in class to answer questions. He was still afraid of his classmate’s opinion about him. The thought of what people would think about him paralyzed him.
One day, Mrs. Amanda asked a complicated question in class that no one knows the answer except the two friends because they have studied ahead of everyone in the class. All the students turned to Sheen because he is the most brilliant in the class, but he turned to Jackson.
“Go ahead… Go on, Jackson, you can nail this.” He encourages him to answer the question.
The whole class burst into laughter because they knew Jackson as a dull student. Even the teacher couldn’t help but smile. He felt like the ground submerged under his feet, but Sheen encouraged him. “Jackson, Stop thinking about what others will think of you. More important is what you think of yourself. You know the answer, so say it.” Jackson stood up, first hesitantly, and then boldly answered the question.
He decided no more timidity of anyone’s expectation. All expectation needs to be of his one and what he thinks of himself.
The teacher and his classmates were shocked when he answered it correctly. She apologized and demanded the whole class should apologize.
Then she brought out more questions that made everyone scream, Excluding Jackson and Sheen, they smiled at each other with satisfaction and self-confidence.
