There once lived a cat under the hill near a river where fishes come out to play, but he has never seen them because he was afraid of stepping outside the cave.
His name was Tori.
Fear! Yes!
Fears were not something he chooses. It was something that became a part of him due to the stories he has heard.
Like their parents before them, his parents told him they are never meant to step out of the cage because what awaits them outside the cage is only death. No one knew how this fear was born, but it was rooted in generations back. So they told him the cage provides everything they need, so they don’t have to worry, and there is no place on earth more beautiful than the cave.
But Tori was curious. He has always wanted to know what is outside.
“Where does the light come from, Mom,” He asked whenever the sun’s rays penetrate the cave.
“It is so magical, Mom..” He was admiring whenever the moon penetrates at night, it feels like heaven, yet he has never had the opportunity of beholding the beautiful sight, Like the stories about heaven.
Tori’s desire to see something new and have a unique experience kept growing like trees with good nutrients. Yet, the roots of fears created in him by the stories he has heard kept preventing him from exploring.
He always said to himself, “one day, I will know what’s outside these caves. I will see what shines during the day and what reflects inside the cave at night.”
One day, while hiking at the end of the cave, fascinated by the moonlight, he slipped and rolled out of the cave boundaries, falling on soft leaves outside. At first, he was terrified. But the good smell of the leaves, the breeze, and the chirping of birds far away, calmed him and aroused his curiosity.
Hesitantly Tori decided to step out further. He followed the moon’s reflection when no one watched and stayed outside until the sun shines before returning. It was scary, but he was willing to take the risk.
He hid his secret. But on the second night, when the reflection caught Tori’s attention again, he sneaked out of the cave without allowing anyone to notice, and for the first time in his life, he beheld the beauty of the world he has never seen. Beauty is described only as heaven.
It was so amazing that Tori stared till dawn, and he kept exploring until sunrise without realizing everyone has been looking for him.
This time, Tori couldn’t keep his excitement to himself. He ran back to the cave and told everyone his story, “We all have been in bondage, and you all must see the beauty outside. Heaven is outside.” At first, they didn’t believe him until he came back with a flower after spending a whole day outside. He then dragged them out to see everything. They saw the beauty of the sea, flowers, and adorable animals.
This was when they all realize nothing has kept them in chains but fear itself. Only fear prevented them from seeing more exceptional beauty and exploring the world. So they decided to go further, and the farther they go from the cave, their fears faded.
All thanks to one brave little cat.
