In the little town close to the thick forest named Nutribook, there is a rumor about the existence of a wicked witch in the forest.
The town people consider themselves enlightened people, and their Children play happily without the fear of getting hurt as long as they don’t go close to the forest. Life was good in Nutribook until something mysterious started happening; four children have gone missing one by one. All Adults’ efforts to trace them have proven abortive.
One of these Missing children was Tonny, a very good friend to two brothers Rico and Julian.
Frustrated, they decided to go searching for them in the forests. Although they were scared, the witch there who eats children will eat them. Yet Rico and Julian were determined to find their friends, so they went into the forest with Luiz, their dog.
They searched for a long time but found nothing. Sadly, they decided to return home, but it seems they were circling inside the tangled forest till they lost their way. The darkness has caught up with us. Rico and Julian sat on the path, terrified, almost crying when they suddenly saw a light not far from them.
It was a little house. When they got to the house entrance, Luiz became very scared that something terrible will happen, so he ran away back to town to find and bring help.
With trembling hands, they knocked on the door.
“Yes...” A hoarse voice was heard beyond the door and the knocks of heavy footsteps, as the door opened wide
“Well… Well, aren’t you piling” It was a very old woman, with a bent back and old clothes on her body.
Meanwhile, Luiz got to town and started barking, dragging Rico’s dads into the forest. Rico’s dads took his gun and followed Luiz with some other men, to see what was wrong.
When they got to the witch’s house, she didn’t see them coming, so they remained silent and sneaked up on her while she was busy with her big pot in the kitchen. They pushed her violently to the floor, so she got hurt and began to cry.
To their surprise, the Six missing children, who heard the commotion, quickly ran into the kitchen, angrily pushing their fathers away, helping the older woman to her feet.
“Dad what are you doing? She’s not the children eating witch.” Rico shouted at his father. All fathers were surprised when Rico narrated the true story.
“With trembling hands, we knocked on her door and shouted…open up the door, you filthy witch. But she was not offended, it’s regrettable that she got used to being called a witch, but she is not. In fact, she is a very nice woman when you know her”
“I just finished baking an apple pie. I will be glad to share it with you”.
She offered us right away. We were surprised by the old woman’s kind gesture, and our stomachs definitely crackled. Besides, all four of our missing friends were inside Rachel’s house and began to scream with joy at us.
“I think you’re starving,” said Rachel to us.
She prepared a big fire and placed a big pot on it, and started boiling water to cook food for us. We were so hungry we all began to laugh in joy and rejoice over our good luck.
“You see, Rachel did not kidnap the four friends. They just played in the woods and got lost until she found them and helped them to recover. Then we all showed up and accused her in vain.
In fact, Rachel is a vegetarian who loves nature. She has a wonderful vegetable garden and delicious fruit trees. In every sense, we, ‘the enlightened’ have treated her in a degrading way.”
Rico explained with excitement over the kindness of Rachel.
The fathers felt embarrassed and deeply apologized for their actions.
The children returned home safely; the city people volunteered to inaugurate a way to Rachel’s house and life.
Now they all can visit and play in the forest without fear and without false rumors, dominate their lives.
