Mother duck has three ducklings with three different appearances. One of them has a mixed color and a face covered with wild feathers. He thinks he is an unlucky duckling. No one wants him because of his appearance.
People come around the pet store to pick up ducklings for a new home every Saturday. All his brothers already got picked, but no one seems interested in picking him. Whenever they see him, they look at him with a funny face.
“Mamma, will anyone ever pick me? I think I look too funny to find someone to pick me like my brothers.” He says with tears rolling down his eyes, each time he gets returned to the farm. He wiped them out as his mother tried to console him, saying there would be someone who would love him just the way he is.
“Wipe away your tears and smile.” She repeats over and over every time she notices his sad heart. But his heart was filled with too much sadness, so he didn’t believe anyone would ever come around.
Every Saturday, the duckling does different things to attract people,
He is always with a downcast sad face and never smiled, and the people always gave hateful comments saying, “Don’t come close ugly duckling.”
One Saturday, he was standing without trying to attract anyone. The memory of his loving mother comforted him, and a big loving smile smeared on his face.
Suddenly he heard a voice “Hey you little one, what a lovely smile, you look like you need some touches to make you look better.” he looked up, it was a little girl with a lovely red gown.
The girl picked the little duckling and went home. It was a happy moment for the duckling who finally found someone that likes him. At home, the little girl cleaned and brushed his feathers until he shows up more attractive than every other duckling on the farm. The duckling looked in the mirror and couldn’t hide his excitement, so he started jumping around.
“Look at you, beautiful duckling,” said the girl while smiling. The duckling has never heard anyone called him beautiful except his mother. He heard tears of joy in his eyes. From that time, he began to see himself differently. The little lady and her brothers always enjoy playing with him every evening after doing all their house shores.
On a free Saturday, the little girl took the duckling along with her to visit the animal farm where he reunited with his mother. The mother could not recognize him for over ten minutes. He kept saying, “it is me, mummy.” His mother was very excited as they hugged each other for an extended period.
The mother reminded him how beautiful he looks and told him, “Never forget to smile always, because your smile makes you look stunning
